Having spoken Spanish for over 26 years, I have developed a deep understanding and appreciation of the language. My journey began with formal education and continued through immersion experiences, both in academic settings and through my interactions with native speakers. Throughout my teaching career at the University of Santo Tomas, I have had the privilege of sharing my passion for the Spanish language with students, helping them gain fluency and confidence in speaking. I’ve honed my ability to not only speak the language but also explain complex grammatical concepts and cultural nuances to learners of all levels. Living in Spain and studying at the University of Salamanca has provided me with first-hand exposure to the diverse accents, slang, and cultural contexts in which Spanish is spoken. This experience has allowed me to adapt my speaking skills to various situations—whether it’s engaging in casual conversations with locals, participating in professional discussions, or teaching in a classroom setting. Being bilingual, I am able to navigate between Spanish and English seamlessly, adjusting my tone and register according to the context. This flexibility has been invaluable, both in personal and professional settings, as I’ve often been called upon to interpret, translate, and communicate across language barriers. Overall, my experience as a Spanish speaker has enriched my life, allowing me to connect with people from different cultures, teach others the beauty of the language, and continually refine my skills.
