About the Role
We are looking for an organized and detail-oriented Assistant Content Coordinator to support the content development and editorial process for our magazine, North Belleville Living. This role involves writing, editing, and content coordination. As a key liaison between feature families, contributors, and the Content Coordinator, you will be essential in ensuring the magazine’s content is engaging, accurate, and delivered on time.
This position requires strong writing and editing skills, excellent organization, and managing multiple content sources while maintaining a professional and respectful communication style.
Key Responsibilities
Content Coordination & Communication
• Identify and coordinate feature families for each magazine issue, utilizing referrals when possible.
• Arrange interviews between the Content Coordinator and the Resident Feature Family.
• Distribute pre-interview questionnaires and respond to the Content Coordinator before the interview.
• Coordinate with the magazine’s photographer to secure feature photos.
• Maintain clear, professional email communication and provide daily updates to the Content Coordinator.
Writing & Editing
• Compile and maintain a monthly local calendar of 12-15 community events for publication.
• Write business profiles (approximately 650 words) based on provided questionnaires and online research.
• Edit and format contributed content, including:
o Expert contributor articles
o Neighborhood and youth classifieds
o Resident-submitted articles
• Draft a letter from the publisher based on the content provided, ensuring accuracy and tone alignment.
• Write additional content, such as sponsorship sections, recipe features, or nonprofit spotlights.
Content Submission & Management
• Upload all finalized content to the magazine’s back-office portal using the Content Coordinator’s profile.
• Ensure the Content Coordinator reviews and edits all content by the 15th of each month before submission deadlines.
• Organize and track expert contributor lists, classified ads, and sponsorship updates.
• Manage supplemental content such as pet features, recipe corners, and community bulletins.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Professional and friendly communication via email and phone.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Comfortable with uploading and formatting content in an online system.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in content coordination, journalism, or magazine publishing.
• Familiarity with editorial processes and content management systems.
• Background in working with community-driven publications or marketing content.
• Above average fluency in English, both written and oral communication.
