JD was a semi-finalist in the 3rd Lagulad Prize: Personal Essay Writing of the Cotabato Literary Journal in 2020. He won 2nd place in the 1st and 2nd Mindanao-wide Creative Non-fiction Writing Contest of I am Mindanao by NCCA-NCLA in 2024 and 2025. JD became a fellow of the 1st Anunaw: Bukidnon Writers' Workshop, where he received the Anunaw Writers' Prize 2023, and of the 30th Iligan National Writers Workshop 2023. He was also a fellow of the 17th Palihang Rogelio Sicat and the 62nd Silliman University National Writers Workshop (SUNWW) 2024, the longest running creative writing workshop in Asia. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Project GenZine, the first children-made magazine in the Philippines tackling HIV/AIDS, which won first runner-up at the Positive Youth Development Network’s national contest in 2021. JD earned second prize at the 72nd Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards in the Poetry category, the longest and most prestigious literary award giving body in the country and became the champion of Dula Tayo: Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino Playwriting Competition this year together with NCCA. He is currently a scriptwriter for Tans and Buksz Production in the region.He has been the secretary of Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa AB Filipino (SABFIL), organization of linguistic students, and presented his undergraduate thesis in 8th International Conference on Asian and Philippine Studies (ICAPS) this 2025 that talks about folk stories in his tribe community, Tagakaulo, and connected it to Cultural Linguistics and Frame Semantics Theory.

John Dave B. Pacheco has been a journalist since elementary school—12 years to be exact. In 2021, he served as the Editor-in-Chief of Hayo, the first children’s magazine in the Philippines that tackles HIV/AIDS, and in 2023, he became the Editor-in-Chief of Pingkian, the official college student publication of Mindanao State University–General Santos City. He is currently the core producer of S’Bang Ka Mindanao Philippines under The Initiatives for Dialogue and Empowerment through Alternative Legal Services (IDEALS) and the Editor-in-Chief of Silaub: The Official Youth Magazine of General Santos City, the hometown of Manny Pacquiao. He is a director, writer, and performance poet from General Santos City. He is a Tagakaulo from Malungon, Sarangani Province. JD was the Champion of the 11th Diwang Sagisag Kultura ng Filipinas National Balagtasan Competition 2023 organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). His poems and essays have been published in the Cotabato Literary Journal (CLJ), TLDTD, Kalazine UP, International Human Rights Art Movement (IHRAM), Nagkahiusang Magsusulat sa Cagayan de Oro (NAGMAC), and others.
