Writer and researcher

I've written articles ranging from 500 to 2,000 words or more on topics asked by an editor when I was working as head of the Research Department of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. In my post retirement job as a freelance writer, I have written stories with 1000 to 2000 words - on topics that I have pitched in.

I worked as researcher for Radio TV Malacanang and my output was used for preproduction (as backgrounder to write script or choose the production to be made), during production (on background and added info on the people, places, and events featured; for use a guide for interviews and generating shot list); post prod (for fact-checking). As head of the Research Department of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. I led a team of researchers and librarians to gather information needed by reporters and editors, and submit raw and written materials.

Networking has been key to my work as researcher to find good source of news and information and know and "hear" what's on the ground for input on how to tell or frame a story.

I was a founder of a corporate service program called Inquirer Read-Along for children aged 7 to 12 years old. It grew to be a nation-wide program, generating a lot of partners, hundreds of children beneficiaries and more than ten national and international awards. I was the program coordinator for over 13 years.

I had a Certified Public Accountant license from the Professional Regulations Commission but used my license for only about a year when I worked as a financial analyst.

I am a licensed real estate broker and real estate appraiser (I have renewed my license) but have not practiced it. But I have written stories on housing and other real estate concerns and issues for buyers.
