Pattern Illustrator for a Pet E-commerce Brand

We are a leading online retailer and manufacturer of premium pet products in the US. Our mission is to enhance the lives of pets and their owners through innovative, high-quality products and exceptional customer service.

We’re looking for a Freelance Pattern Illustrator to help us create high-quality, hand-drawn style designs for our product collection. This is a long-term freelance role with consistent weekly work — not a project-by-project setup. You’ll be expected to design original patterns, collaborate on seasonal collections, and contribute creative ideas. If interested, please read the following details:

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design original, seamless patterns with a hand-drawn feel
- Create more or less than 10 cohesive designs per month
- Deliver production-ready files in both CMYK and RGB formats
- Follow creative briefs while contributing your own ideas
- Organize and label files properly for upload into our system
- Make style and composition decisions independently
- Suggest design bundle groupings and themes based on trends
- Collaborate with our team on seasonal drops and visual direction
- Spot trends and propose new design directions or collections
- Maintain consistency in quality, brand style, and formatting
- Take feedback well and revise designs quickly when needed

YOU’RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU:
- Are skilled in hand-drawn illustration (on paper, Procreate, or similar)
- Can work independently and meet weekly deadlines
- Pay attention to visual harmony, color, and bundle cohesion
- Can spot what works together in a collection without constant guidance
- Are consistent, detail-oriented, and easy to communicate with
- Enjoy taking creative initiative and suggesting ideas
- Are responsive and respectful of timelines
- Avoid "clip-art" aesthetics and always strive for premium quality

QUALIFICATIONS
- 2+ years of pattern or surface design experience
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator (required)
- Experience with Procreate or similar tools (preferred)
- Strong portfolio showing hand-drawn, seamless patterns
- Background in lifestyle, fantasy, children’s illustration, or pet-related design (a plus)
- Experience creating patterns for POD, apparel, stationery, or accessories
- Understanding of how to format final files for production use

WORK DETAILS
- Type: Freelance, Remote
- Workload: Weekly bundle drops (4–8 designs)
- Communication: ClickUp or inside the job sites
- Schedule: Flexible, but with consistent weekly output
- Exclusivity: Open to other clients, but must commit to our deadlines
