Level 3 Network Engineer / Project Manager (Remote)

About Us
We are growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) delivering IT infrastructure, network, and security solutions to small and mid-sized businesses based in New York City. We're looking for a hybrid technical/project leader who can both roll up their sleeves on complex network engineering work and drive client projects from scoping through delivery.
Position Summary
We're seeking a Level 3 Network Engineer with strong project management skills to serve as both a senior technical escalation point and a project lead for client network deployments, migrations, and upgrades. This is a dual-function role: roughly half hands-on engineering (design, escalations, L3 troubleshooting) and half project management (planning, coordination, client communication, delivery).
Key Responsibilities
Network Engineering (L3)
• Serve as the top-tier escalation point for IT issues that L1/L2 technicians cannot resolve
• Design, configure, and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure across multiple client environments
• Perform network architecture reviews and recommend improvements for performance, security, and scalability
• Manage and maintain the MSP’s technical stack: firewall rules, network routing, security configurations, AD/MDM/RMM policies, etc
• Document network topologies, configurations, and standard operating procedures
• Participate in an on-call rotation for critical i
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to L1/L2 technicians
Project Management
• Own end-to-end delivery of IT projects: scoping, planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
• Serve as a point of contact for clients during active projects, managing expectations and communication
• Coordinate internal resources (technicians, vendors) to keep projects on schedule and within budget
• Identify suitable hardware and IT equipment per project requirements
• Create and maintain project documentation: statements of work, timelines, status reports, and change requests
• Manage vendor/carrier coordination (ISP installs, hardware procurement, licensing)
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of IT technician experience, including at least 3 years at a L3 network engineering level and experience in project management
• Technical expertise in the following:
o Networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, firewalls, switches; with emphasis on Watchguard, Cisco, HP/Aruba, Meraki, Ubiquiti)
o Microsoft 365 / Entra ID / Intune / Exchange administration
o Windows Server, Hyper-V, Active Directory, Group Policy
o PSA, RMM, KB and PM tools (Syncro, Hudu, ClickUp preferred)
o Backup, disaster recovery, EDR, and
o Strong project management skills with proven success executing technical projects (server migrations, network overhauls,
• Demonstrated experience managing IT projects from start to finish, ideally in an MSP or client-services environment
• Prior experience working at an MSP supporting multiple clients simultaneously
• Fluency in English (spoken and written) with excellent client-facing communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
• Assertive and results-driven personality to succeed in a fast-paced demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in hotel focused IT
• Relevant certifications: Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert, CCNA/CCNP, etc
• PMP, CAPM, or other formal project management certification
• PBX phone systems (Mitel, 3CX)
• PowerShell scripting

• Ability to work during business hours EST and occasional non-business hours on an on-call and emergency basis
