JOB OVERVIEW

I run a UK-based web design agency building fast, high-performance brochure websites for small businesses.

I'm looking for a frontend developer to work directly with me on a per-project basis, with the goal of building a steady, long-term working relationship.

How We Work

All websites are hand-coded static sites using a structured component system.

This role is not suitable for developers who rely on:

WordPress
Elementor
Webflow
Wix
Any page builders

You must be comfortable building directly in code.

The Stack:

HTML, CSS (LESS), JavaScript
VS Code, Netlify
Eleventy (11ty) and Nunjucks – a plus (you must be willing to learn)
AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) used daily

What You'll Be Doing:

Building complete websites using a provided starter kit and component system
Styling and adjusting layouts using LESS (fully responsive)
Writing clean, functional JavaScript (no frameworks)
Achieving high PageSpeed / Lighthouse scores

Using AI tools to:
Convert PNG ? SVG
Remove backgrounds
Optimise images
Debug issues
Applying basic design judgement (fonts, spacing, layout consistency)

Requirements:

Strong HTML & CSS (clean, structured code) – Essential
Solid JavaScript (no frameworks) – Essential
Strong written English – Essential
Strong responsive design skills
Comfortable using AI tools in real work

What Matters Most

This role is not about years of experience.

I’m looking for someone who can:

Take instructions and execute correctly
Work independently without constant guidance
Read documentation and figure things out
Deliver consistent, high-quality work

The Role

You will not deal with clients.
You will work only with me.

You will be given:

A client questionnaire
A design direction
A clear system

Your job is to produce a finished website independently.

Pay

6,400 – 12,150 per website (£80–£150)
Typical build time: 8–15 hours (faster once trained)

This is designed to become consistent, ongoing work, with potential for:

Regular monthly income
Pay increases over time
Long-term working relationship
