Are you an experienced bookkeeper who has worked for a US firm and is looking for a stable, long-term, full-time home instead of another short-term gig?
I'm Chris Kocina, owner of LivFree Bookkeeping, a US-based firm serving 30+ small-business clients. We're a small, tight team that values doing the work right over doing it fast. My values are stewardship, integrity, and service, and I run the business that way.
I'm hiring one experienced Senior Bookkeeper to own production for a set of clients and to grow with us long-term. This is a real seat on a small team, not a faceless data-entry pool.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Full-cycle bookkeeping for assigned clients: bank and credit card reconciliations, GL maintenance, and month-end close
- Routine client
- Hitting our firm-wide close deadlines on a defined close calendar
- Quality review support on a junior bookkeeper's work, under my direction
- Documenting processes as we build them (we record short Loom walkthroughs)
- Flagging complex or unusual client situations to me early
You won't be thrown in alone. You'll ramp into client communication over the first few weeks and work alongside our lead bookkeeper.
WHAT THIS ROLE DOES NOT OWN
- Sales or new client acquisition
- Pricing decisions
- Hiring or firing decisions
- High-level client relationship management (I keep this)
This is a senior production role with room to grow into more responsibility over time as you prove fit. I'm being honest that it is not a guaranteed manager title on day one.
MUST-HAVES (non-negotiable)
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience
- QBO ProAdvisor certified (QuickBooks Online is the core of everything we do)
- You have worked for a US bookkeeping firm before, not just BPO data entry
- You have independently closed books for multiple clients
- Professional, clear written English (you will be
- True full-time availability. This must be your primary job, not a side gig.
NICE-TO-HAVES (a plus, not required)
- Experience with Double (formerly Keeper), Gusto, or Ramp
- Construction or job-costing experience
- Comfort using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) in your daily workflow
HOW WE WORK
We are an AI-first firm. Every tea
NOT A FIT IF
- You want a side gig or are juggling another full-time employer
- You prefer pure task execution and don't want to own outcomes
- Your written English is not yet client-ready
- You go quiet when things get busy instead of communicating
THE SETUP
- Long-term, full-time role (40 hrs/week), not a short contract
- Remote, Philippines-based, flexible schedule with some daily overlap to US Central Time
- We start with a paid 2-week trial. During the trial, you connect securely from your own computer into our company system, so no client data is ever stored on your personal machine. Once you pass the trial, we ship you a fully configured company laptop with all your tools installed.
- 1099 independent contractor arrangement
- Structured onboarding and training in your first weeks, with 30-day and 90-day check-ins
COMPENSATION
$11 to $13 per hour USD to start, depending on experience. I review compensation at your 90-day mark and as your responsibilities grow. Strong performance is rewarded here. The better you do and the more you own, the more you earn. I want this to be a long-term home, and I pay people accordingly.
