JOB OVERVIEW

THE ROLE

We're an Australian architectural building products company at an active stage of product development new components, new systems, and an expanding product range across two brands. We're looking for a skilled product design engineer and CAD drafter to join us long-term, full-time, and take that development through to production-ready documentation.

This is hands-on technical work. You'll take concepts and specifications and turn them into accurate, professional production drawings the kind a manufacturer can work from without a phone call. Aluminium extrusion profiles and injection-moulded components are our primary focus.

THE BUSINESSES

A premium electrically operable louvre pergola system designed and engineered in Australia, supplied to architects, builders, commercial operators and developers.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

- Producing accurate 3D models in OnShape, Sketchup or SolidWorks from briefs, sketches and specifications
- Drafting production drawings for aluminium extrusion profiles — die drawings, cross-sections, dimensional tolerances
- Drafting production drawings for injection-moulded components part geometry, draft angles, wall thickness, tolerances, material callouts
- Producing shop drawings to a standard that can go directly to a fabricator or manufacturer
- Converting and exporting files between formats (STEP, DXF, DWG, PDF and similar) as required
- Maintaining and organising the product drawing library with clean version control
- Supporting the product development process as new components and systems are designed.
- Also need to have experience with Sketchup, this is important.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Non-negotiable:
- Demonstrated experience producing manufacturing drawings for aluminium extrusion profiles, or fabricated parts, injection-moulded components and die cast parts.
- Proven ability to produce clean, complete shop drawings from a written specification or sketch
- Proficiency in OnShape — this is our preferred platform. SolidWorks will be considered for candidates with strong manufacturing drawing experience
- File conversion across common engineering formats (STEP, DXF, DWG, PDF)
- Strong attention to detail — drawings go to manufacturers; errors cost money
- Reliable, self-directed and able to manage your own workload

Advantageous:
- Background in architectural, construction or building products environments
- Experience with aluminium systems — pergolas, facades, windows, louvres or similar
- Familiarity with Australian or international drafting standards
- Experience working with Australian clients

WORKING ARRANGEMENT

- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Long-term engagement — this is not a project post
- Our team works 7:00 am – 3:00 pm Perth, Western Australia time (WST / UTC+8)
- We're flexible on timezone for the right candidate please tell us where you are and your preferred working hours in your application

HOW TO APPLY

Please include all of the following — applications without these items will not be reviewed:

1. A brief introduction: your background, the industries you've worked in, and the types of products you've drafted
2. Portfolio examples — screenshots or files showing production drawings you've completed for aluminium extrusion profiles and/or injection-moulded components. Show us drawings that went to a manufacturer, not student or tutorial work
3. Confirmation of your primary CAD platform (OnShape or SolidWorks) and your proficiency level
4. Your location and preferred working hours
5. Your hourly rate in USD
