JOB OVERVIEW

**Medical Billing & Coding Specialist – Pain Management / eCW / Denials – Full-Time**

We are a U.S.-based interventional pain management medical clinic looking for a reliable, experienced **Medical Billing & Coding Specialist** to join our team full-time.

This is a long-term role for someone who understands U.S. medical billing, denials, payer follow-up, corrected claims, EOB review, and coding issues. This is not a general virtual assistant position.

The role is approximately:

**70% billing, denials, AR follow-up, and payer communication**
**30% coding review and claim accuracy support**

Our top priorities are:

1. Prevent coding and modifier mistakes before claims go out.
2. Work old AR, denials, EOBs, corrected claims, payer calls, and appeal preparation.

**About our clinic**

We are a U.S. pain management practice. We perform interventional pain procedures, office visits, medication management, injections, fluoroscopy-guided procedures, ultrasound-guided procedures, and other specialty services. We need someone who can help us improve billing accuracy, reduce denials, and follow through on claims until they are paid or properly resolved.

**Required experience**

You must have experience with U.S. medical billing.

Strongly preferred:

* Pain management billing or coding experience
* Orthopedic, spine, anesthesia, PM&R, surgery center, or specialty billing experience
* eClinicalWorks experience
* Denial management experience
* Corrected claims experience
* Payer portal experience
* EOB/ERA review experience
* Insurance phone call experience

Certification is preferred but not required.

Preferred certifications include CPC, COC, CCS-P, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or similar U.S. medical coding certification. However, real-world U.S. pain management billing/coding experience is more important than certification alone.

**Responsibilities**

You will help with:

* Reviewing claims before submission for obvious coding, modifier, or documentation issues
* Working old AR
* Reviewing EOBs and denial reasons
* Calling payers and documenting call reference numbers
* Checking payer portals
* Preparing corrected claims
* Preparing appeal/reconsideration notes
* Identifying repeat denial patterns
* Escalating coding or documentation problems before claims are sent
* Working with our biller and physician on difficult claims
* Helping create internal billing/coding notes and cheat sheets
* Making sure claims are not written off incorrectly without review

**Examples of areas we work with**

Pain management and specialty coding may include office visits, injections, epidurals, medial branch blocks, radiofrequency ablation, SI joint procedures, genicular procedures, trigger point injections, joint injections, fluoroscopy, ultrasound guidance, sedation, urine drug testing, J-codes, modifiers, bundled codes, and payer-specific denial rules.

You do not need to know everything on day one, but you must have strong U.S. billing fundamentals and be able to learn quickly.

**Schedule**

This is a full-time position.

You must be available live during U.S. Central Time business hours.

You must be responsive during scheduled work hours through our communication system.

**Pay**

$8–$12 USD per hour depending on experience, skill level, eCW experience, pain management experience, and reliability.

**Important: No overemployment**

We are looking for someone who is dedicated and reliable.

During your scheduled work hours, you must work only for our clinic. You may not work another job, take other client calls, perform tasks for another employer, outsource your work, share your login, or allow anyone else to access our systems.

This role requires real-time availability, responsiveness, accurate time tracking, and professional accountability.

If you are currently working another full-time U.S. shift job, please do not apply unless you are leaving that job before starting with us.

**Confidentiality and HIPAA**

This is a medical practice. You will be working with confidential healthcare information.

You must sign confidentiality/HIPAA documents. You must not save patient information locally, send patient information through personal email, share screenshots, share passwords, use unauthorized devices, or discuss patient information outside approved systems.

**Requirements**

* Reliable computer
* Fast stable internet
* Backup internet preferred
* Quiet work environment
* Strong written English
* Comfortable making payer phone calls
* Detail-oriented
* Honest and reliable
* Able to follow instructions
* Able to document work clearly
* Able to work full-time U.S. Central Time hours
