JOB OVERVIEW

Lead Video & Content Editor with Accessibility Experience
Help build the system that makes a personal brand publish consistently and with great attention to accessibility
About the Role
I’m building a personal brand with long-form digital content (a podcast and YouTube) and looking to hire someone part-time with the possibility for full-time work eventually. You are someone with real editing judgment — not just technical execution — who can take raw recordings, make first-pass editorial decisions that are aligned with the voice of the brand, and also polish the details so that high-quality content publishes on a consistent, reliable cadence.
One of your first projects will be to build the style guide and workflow that makes our editing process repeatable — so quality stays consistent even as we scale and bring on additional support later.
What You’ll Do
Editing & Production
Transcribe raw podcast and video recordings for publication 2x/month
Make first-pass keep/cut editorial decisions, informed by my guidance initially, and document decisions in a style guide that we'll build together (and refine as you learn the brand voice)
Execute the edit: clean cuts, pacing, intro/outro, current CTA/promo, captions
Repurpose long-form podcast content into shorter cuts for Substack, LinkedIn, and additional platforms (publishing 2-3x/week)

System-Building
Document process in a style guide: what "great" looks like for this brand, in writing, so it's teachable
Help set up a workflow/tooling system that scales and does not depend on back-and-forth emails

What We're Looking For
Proven video/audio editing experience — portfolio or work samples required
Excellent written and spoken English (you'll be making judgment calls on language, tone, and clarity)
Experience with podcast-to-video-to-social repurposing workflows is a strong plus
Comfortable working in a shared review system (e.g., ---------- , Dropbox, similar) — or recommending one if we don't have it set up yet
Familiarity with accessibility best practices for video/audio content (accurate captions, audio description awareness, inclusive formatting)
Reliable, deadline-driven, and proactive about communicating delays before they happen

What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days)
A documented, reusable style guide exists
A working review/approval system is in place
Content is publishing on a predictable, agreed-upon cadence
You're starting to feel comfortable making first-pass editorial calls that I'm comfortable approving with light, not heavy, revision

How to Apply
Please include:
2–3 editing samples that demonstrate your editing skills and your knowledge of accessibility for podcast and videos.
Your experience with podcast/video repurposing across platforms
A cover letter that includes a description of the technology you have in your home office
Be sure to include in the second paragraph of your letter the full list of ingredients that go into your favorite home-cooked meal
In the last paragraph let me know what "good editorial judgment" means to you, with an example
Your availability (how many other jobs or clients you have) and what publishing cadence you've supported for past clients/employers
