About the Role
Search has fundamentally changed. Buyers no longer just Google — they ask ChatGPT, query Perplexity, and rely on Google AI Overviews to make decisions. At Calimingo Pools, a luxury pool design and construction company based in Southern California, we want to be the brand AI recommends when someone starts dreaming about their backyard.
We're hiring an AI Search & Visibility Specialist who lives at the intersection of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and traditional search. You understand how large language models retrieve, rank, and cite information — and you know how to get a brand into those answers. Traditional SEO is your foundation, not your ceiling.
This is a freelance, remote role with real ownership over how Calimingo is discovered across every search surface — from Google rankings to AI-generated responses.

Candidates who only know traditional SEO and have never worked with AI search platforms
Candidates who cannot name the difference between how Google indexes content vs. how an LLM retrieves and cites it
Candidates who have not actively used tools like Perplexity, ChatGPT, or Google AI Overviews as part of their professional work


What You'll Do

Own Calimingo's full search visibility strategy — from Google rankings to AI-generated answers
Conduct GEO and SEO audits covering AI discoverability, citation potential, technical health, and content structure
Optimize pages and content for LLM readability — answer-first formats, clear heading hierarchies, passage-level clarity that AI engines can extract and cite
Build topical authority and entity signals so both search engines and AI tools associate Calimingo with luxury pools, pool design, and outdoor living
Implement schema markup (FAQPage, Product, Article, Organization) for rich results and AI citation
Monitor and grow Calimingo's citation presence across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, and Gemini
Pursue earned media placements — directories, review platforms, editorial features — that strengthen both backlinks and AI multi-source authority
Manage technical search fundamentals — crawlability, page speed, Core Web Vitals, internal linking, site architecture
Publish and maintain content directly on the Calimingo website via WordPress
Report monthly on organic rankings, AI citation frequency, and share of voice vs. competitors


Must-Have Skills

Hands-on GEO experience — you have actively worked to get brands cited in AI-generated answers, not just read about it
Working knowledge of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) — you understand why it matters for brand visibility
Fluency with AI platforms — you regularly use ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Copilot, and Gemini as professional tools, not just casually
AI visibility tracking — experience with tools like Otterly.ai, Ahrefs Brand Radar, BrightEdge, or similar
Traditional SEO foundation — keyword research, on-page optimization, link building, technical audits
Schema markup — FAQPage, Product, Article, Organization
Search tools — Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Google Search Console
WordPress — confident navigating, editing, and publishing on a live website
Content strategy — semantic architecture, entity-based strategy, topical authority building


Nice to Have

Digital PR and earned media experience
Knowledge graph and E-E-A-T optimization
Familiarity with agentic search (OpenAI Operator) and agent-driven discovery
Experience with home improvement, construction, luxury goods, or lifestyle brands
