We’re looking for a Financial News & Trend Researcher to help us spot important and interesting financial stories early, especially overnight while U.S. audiences are asleep.
This is a research and analysis role only.
You will not be creating content, designing graphics, or publishing posts.
Your job is to scan the financial internet and clearly explain what’s happening, why it matters, and why everyday people should care.
What you’ll cover
This role focuses on financial news that affects normal individuals, including:
Personal finance (inflation, housing prices, debt, savings, 401k, retirement)
Government or policy movements that impact consumers
Stock market developments (major moves, notable companies, trends)
Crypto and Bitcoin developments (when relevant)
Financial advice or narratives gaining traction online
Stories circulating among finance influencers that may spill mainstream
We care less about trader-only noise and more about real-world impact and interest.
What you’ll do:
Monitor platforms such as:
Financial and general news sites
Twitter
Reddit (finance-related subreddits)
YouTube and finance commentary channels
Blogs and newsletters
Identify:
Emerging or under-covered stories
Overnight developments
Topics gaining
For each item, provide:
A brief summary of what’s happening
Why it matters to everyday individuals
Why now (early / building / already widely known)
Source links (required)
Optional: suggested angles or questions
Deliverables will be shared in a simple, organized format (Notion, Google Docs, etc.).
What this role does not include
No Canva or design work
No writing captions or headlines in brand voice
No posting or scheduling
No content publishing
This role is strictly research, analysis, and sourcing.
What we’re looking for
Strong English reading and writing skills
Excellent online research ability
Interest in finance, markets, and current events
Ability to explain financial or technical topics clearly
Good judgment about what’s interesting vs. what’s just noise
Comfortable working independently and spotting trends early
Backgrounds in research, journalism, finance-adjacent roles, content research, or media monitoring are a plus — but curiosity and clarity matter more than credentials.
Time & commitment
Part-time to start
Flexible hours
Preference for overnight or early-morning U.S. coverage
Long-term opportunity for the right person
How to apply
Please include:
A paragraph on how you personally keep up with financial news
Two recent financial stories you found interesting, with 1–2 sentences explaining why they matter to everyday people
Applications without examples or explanations may not be reviewed.
Why this role matters
This role exists to:
Catch stories early
Filter signal from noise
Focus on what actually impacts people’s financial lives
You’re not just collecting links — you’re helping us stay ahead.
