JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Officer to manage our financial transactions and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, extensive experience with Xero accounting software, and a deep understanding of Australian taxation procedures. This role requires a candidate who can handle a full spectrum of financial tasks, from daily transaction processing to complex financial reporting, with the aim of supporting our strategic decision-making and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Financial Transactions

Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing to ensure smooth financial operations.

Bookkeeping

Maintain accurate financial records and perform account reconciliations regularly to ensure accuracy and compliance with standard accounting practices.

Budgeting and Forecasting

Assist in the preparation of detailed budgets and financial forecasts, providing critical data to support strategic planning and resource allocation.

Financial Reporting

Generate comprehensive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to provide insights into the company’s financial health.

Tax Compliance

Ensure all financial operations comply with Australian taxation laws and regulations, including the accurate and timely filing of tax returns and payments.

Xero Expertise

Utilize Xero accounting software proficiently to manage all financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and prepare financial statements and reports.

Financial Analysis

Conduct detailed financial analyses to identify trends, variances, and potential areas for financial improvement within the company.

Audit Support

Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring all financial records are accurate and well-documented.

Process Improvement

Identify and recommend improvements to financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness within the finance department.

Ad Hoc Tasks

Support the finance team with various ad hoc tasks and projects as required, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative attitude.



Requirements


Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Proven experience as a Finance Officer or in a similar role, demonstrating a strong track record in financial management.

Proficiency in Xero accounting software.

Strong understanding of Australian taxation procedures and regulations.

Desirable

CPA or CA certification is highly preferred, although not mandatory.

Software

Expertise in Xero accounting software is essential.

Proficiency in other financial systems and databases.

Education

A tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
