JOB OVERVIEW

The role:
We're looking for a web designer to create Figma designs for WordPress builds. You'll design responsive websites for service-based businesses, community directories, and ecommerce sites, mostly based in New Zealand.
Our workflow uses a design-system approach: you'll design in Figma, then we'll sync those designs to WordPress using ACSS (a CSS framework) and SchemaWP. This means you'll assign design variables in Figma that match ACSS naming conventions, which accelerates the build phase.

What you'll do:
Receive design briefs outlining aesthetic goals, reference sites, brand materials, and page content
Translate those briefs into attractive, functional designs that work on desktop and mobile
Design with UX as a priority: prioritise usability, clear navigation, and good information hierarchy alongside visual aesthetics
Create clear style guides (typography, colour palettes, spacing) for each project
Propose design solutions and ideas for the challenges you're given
Communicate progress and decisions clearly throughout the project

What you'll need:
- 3–4 years of web design experience (portfolio required)
- Strong Figma skills
- Solid understanding of UX principles and responsive design
- Ability to balance aesthetic direction with user needs and functionality
- Attention to detail and ability to work from a brief
- Clear communication and the ability to take initiative

How we'll work:
Part-time: Around 4 hours per day.
First project: Project-based engagement so we can establish how we work together and d ---------- if we're a good fit.
Location: We're based in New Zealand and work primarily with NZ clients.
Check-ins: Google Meet call for kick-off, daily project updates in project management system.

Compensation:
Up to 550 PHP/hour depending on your experience.

To apply:
Important: Begin your application subject line with the word RED (in all caps).

Include:
- Your portfolio with detailed project context (including UX decisions you made) What was the design brief? Which elements did you create vs. receive? What UX decisions did you make and why?
- List 3 Figma features that aid responsive web design and how they help you
- 2–3 references or reviews
- A brief note on why you're interested in this role
