JOB OVERVIEW

We're a growing direct-to-consumer ecommerce brand running paid social campaigns across multiple international markets (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, and the US). We're looking for a fast, sharp video editor to turn scripts and footage into scroll-stopping ads for Facebook and Instagram.

This is a direct-response role, not a brand-film role. We care about hooks that stop the scroll, pacing that holds attention, and edits that drive clicks and sales. If you understand what makes a paid social ad actually convert, you'll do well here.

What you'll be responsible for:

Editing both short-form ads (hook-driven, fast-paced) and long-form ads (VSL-style, testimonial, story-led) for Meta
Cutting strong, punchy hooks in the first three seconds to maximise hook rate
Pacing edits to hold attention all the way through (retention is everything)
Sourcing your own footage and content when needed (stock, UGC-style, b-roll) as well as editing from provided footage and assets
Producing multiple hook variations of the same ad for testing
Adding captions, text overlays, b-roll, sound design, and music that lift the ad
Using AI video and content tools to create and enhance assets where it speeds up or strengthens the work
Turning around revisions quickly and cleanly
Keeping a tidy, organised file and project structure so assets are easy to find and reuse
Working from voiceover and supplied creative direction to match the intended tone

What I expect from you:

Strong grasp of both short-form AND long-form direct-response editing for paid social
An instinct for hooks, pacing, and retention
Resourceful: able to find and source the right content yourself, not just wait for footage to be handed to you
Confident across all major editing software (see below), and able to work in whatever the job calls for
Confident across AI video and content tools (see below), and quick to pick up new ones as they emerge
Fast turnaround without dropping quality
Clean, accurate captioning and attention to detail
Reliable and self-managing: you hit deadlines without being chased
Open to feedback and quick to apply revisions fully

Editing software you should know:

CapCut
Premiere Pro
After Effects
Plus any other editing software you work in (tell me which)

AI tools you should know (or learn fast):

HeyGen
Higgsfield
ElevenLabs (voiceover)
Plus any other AI video, image, and content generation tools you've worked with (tell me which)

Nice to have:

Experience editing ecommerce or DTC paid social ads with proven results
Familiarity with what makes Meta ads convert (hook rate, hold rate, retention)
Motion graphics and sound design skills

Communication:

Day-to-day communication with me and the team happens through Slack and WhatsApp, so you'll need to be responsive and reachable on both during your working hours.
