Financial Management & Reporting:
Maintain accurate financial records for retail and e-commerce transactions.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
Manage multi-channel revenue streams from online stores (Shopify, Amazon, eBay, etc.), brick-and-mortar stores, and wholesale.
Track and analyze profit margins, COGS, and operational expenses.
Sales & Revenue Accounting:
Reconcile daily sales data across e-commerce platforms, POS systems, and third-party payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Amazon Pay, etc.).
Monitor returns, refunds, chargebacks, and discounts across multiple sales channels.
Ensure proper revenue recognition for subscription-based or installment payment models.
Inventory & Cost Accounting:
Manage inventory valuation (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average methods).
Oversee cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory shrinkage, and write-offs.
Work with supply chain teams to optimize inventory purchasing and turnover ratios.
Reconcile inventory discrepancies between accounting software and warehouse management systems.
Tax Compliance & Reporting:
Manage sales tax compliance, ensuring accurate calculations for different jurisdictions (state, federal, and international taxes).
Oversee VAT, GST, and digital services taxes for cross-border e-commerce transactions.
Prepare tax filings and assist with financial audits and compliance reviews.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Manage vendor payments, supplier invoices, and expense tracking.
Monitor customer payments, refund requests, and accounts receivable aging.
Ensure accurate reconciliation of bank and payment processor statements.
E-Commerce & Retail Systems Integration:
Work with ERP and accounting software to automate financial workflows.
Ensure seamless integration between e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce, Amazon, eBay, etc.) and accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, or SAP).
Optimize financial processes related to dropshipping, fulfillment centers (Amazon FBA, 3PLs), and digital product sales.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of accounting experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
Experience with sales tax compliance and multi-state/international taxation.
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics).
Preferred:
CPA or CMA certification.
Experience with e-commerce payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Square, Amazon Pay, etc.).
Knowledge of inventory management systems (like TradeGecko, DEAR Inventory, or Unleashed Software).
Understanding of e-commerce marketing expenses, affiliate commissions, and digital ad cost accounting.
