JOB OVERVIEW

WDM | E-commerce on Bol | Remote | 3–4 days per week (path to full-time as we grow)

We're a Dutch e-commerce business selling on the Bol marketplace. We're small, we move fast, and we've automated a lot of the heavy lifting, including our P&L and cashflow, which now run on AI-driven models. So we're not looking for someone to put reports together. We already have the numbers. What we don't have yet is the person who looks at those numbers and d ---------- what we should actually do about them. That's the role.

You'd work directly with me, the founder. When margin slips, you're the one who figures out why and what to change. When we're sitting on overstock, you're the one who d ---------- what to clear, at what price, and when, and backs it with the maths. When our models spit out a suggestion, you're the one who checks whether it's actually right before we act on it.

What you'd own
-Margin. Track it across products and channels, work out what's driving it up or down, and drive the changes that protect it.
-Commercial decisions. Turn the data and the model output into real calls on pricing, promotions, assortment, and inventory.
-Overstock. Treat it as a financial decision, not a guess. Put a number on it and d ---------- how and when to clear it.
-A check on the models. Pressure-test what our AI finance tools produce before we trust it. The model proposes, you validate, I d ---------- .
-SKU profitability. Find the winners and the quiet money-losers, and turn that into pricing and assortment decisions.
The formal finance side. VAT, year-end, the accountant, compliance, and being in the room for any banking or financing conversations.
-Cashflow. Keep an eye on the position, flag risks early, and understand how purchasing and stock decisions hit working capital.

What it isn't
A heads-up so we don't waste each other's time.
This isn't a bookkeeping or monthly-reporting job, our systems already handle that.
You also won't be building or fixing the data pipelines; we have a data analyst who owns data accuracy, and you'd work alongside them as an equal.
Note: it might be that you spot these and work allong side the data analist to tackle bugs.

Nobody's going to hand you a task list.
You're the one making the calls.

Who we're hoping to find
The thing that's rare, and the thing we really want, is someone who has the Skills to equally handle P&L/Cashflow, can make SKU-level margin breakdowns, and can make decision messy stock data.
Most finance people are only comfortable with the first; most data people only the last.
We need someone who bridges all three.

Example of decision comming from this
-Pay of loans x amount of weeks
-Push these products to gain turnover or lower overstock
-Invest in these categories or when we are ready to invest in growth
-Prep for Q4 financially and on SKU level.
-Tips on lowering Opperational expenditure (where is the biggest cash leak and a step by step on how to fix it)

Marketplace experience matters to us more than a long corporate finance CV.
If you understand how fulfilment costs, returns, ad spend, and tied-up inventory eat into margin, you'll be of great impact from week one.

We care more about how you think than how many years you've done it.
A sharp person with three to five years and real commercial instinct beats someone with a longer history who's only ever produced reports.
What we're really after is someone who's owned decisions, not just numbers, and who's comfortable telling me I'm wrong when the data says so.

You'll need to be fluent in English, happy working remotely with a few hours of daily overlap with European time, and comfortable working with AI-driven finance tools and a modern e-commerce stack.

What you get out of it
-Real ownership from day one. You're not slotting into a process, you're shaping how we make decisions.
-The finance and data side of the business is yours to lead.
-A direct line to the founder. No layers, no politics. You bring the thinking, we d ---------- together, and you see your calls play out in the business fast.
-Room to grow. This starts at 3–4 days a week and grows into a full-time leadership seat as we scale. Get this right and the role grows with the company.
-A company that invests in you. We're built on quality, not just in our products and service, but in the life of our team. We back that up with a monthly health bonus you can put toward whatever keeps you well, gym, better sleep, whatever works for you. If we expect quality from you, we owe you the conditions to deliver it.
-Remote, wherever you are, with just a few hours of daily overlap with European time.
-USD $15–$20 an hour to start, with real room to move up as you prove yourself.

How to apply
Skip the long CV for now. Instead, I'd like a few things in your own words.

First, tell me how you'd think about this: say we've got a chunk of capital tied up in overstock. How would you d ---------- what to clear, at what price, and when?
I'm not after a perfect answer, you don't know our data yet, I just want to see how your mind works on it.

Then share a quick story about a time you pushed back on a number, a model, or a boss, and how it played out.
And tell me a little about what you've done before, and what made you want this role specifically.

One last thing. We're after real A-players, and A-players like to work with other A-players.
So if you've read this and thought yes, this is me, apply.

I'm looking forward to reading it.
