Role

The Assistant Buyer will collaborate closely with the Buying team to develop and execute strategies that optimize results. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of the buying office, including data entry, product tracking, and handling ad-hoc assignments. This position is ideal for a highly organized individual with strong Excel skills and a proactive, can-do attitude.


Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Buyer to maximize profitability and sales through analysis of item performance.
Assist in defining the assortment strategy for assigned categories, using business reports to understand trends, sell-through, and to ensure targets are met.
Support vendor management, including negotiations, pricing, logistics, and the purchase order process.
Proactively report real-time project statuses, flagging any concerns with attention to detail.
Perform data collection, entry, and maintenance to support buying decisions.

Primary Objectives

Drive sales and profitability through effective analysis and strategic buying decisions.
Ensure that the assortment strategy aligns with current trends and meets sales targets.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors to optimize pricing and logistics.

Regular Work Activities

Daily monitoring and analysis of item performance and sales trends.
Assisting in the development of category strategies based on data analysis.
Managing vendor communications and purchase order processes.
Regular data entry and maintenance to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.

Additional Activities and Mandatory Meetings

Participate in weekly team meetings to discuss strategy and performance.
Engage in training sessions to stay updated on new technologies and industry trends.
Collaborate on cross-functional projects with other departments as needed.

Metrics for Evaluation

Sales performance and profitability of assigned categories.
Accuracy and timeliness of data entry and reporting.
Effectiveness in vendor management, including successful negotiations and on-time deliveries.
Contribution to the development and execution of category strategies.
