Accounting Manager
Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and leading a team of accounting professionals. This role plays a critical part in supporting the organization's financial health through effective management of accounting processes, internal controls, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.
Assign and review work, establish priorities, and monitor team productivity.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Foster a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations
Oversee general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing processes.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Maintain the integrity of financial records and accounting systems.
Compliance and Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), company policies, and applicable regulations.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Coordinate external audits and assist with audit requests and documentation.
Support tax filings and compliance activities in coordination with external advisors.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to improve operational and financial performance.
Monitor budget variances and provide explanations to management.
Support strategic decision-making through financial reporting and analysis.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and workflows.
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Participate in system upgrades, implementations, and process automation initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
CPA designation preferred.
Experience
5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading an accounting team.
Experience with financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, and internal controls.
Experience with ERP and accounting software systems.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
Reporting Structure

Reports to: Controller, Director of Finance, or Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Supervises: Staff Accountants, Senior Accountants, Accounts Payable/Receivable Personnel, and other accounting tea ---------- mbers as assigned.
