Graphic Design
• Create designs and layouts for specific printed projects.
• Can understand and execute client’s revisions as necessary.
• Create mock-ups and presentation as needed.
Desktop Publishing
• Ability to produce a wide variety of materials, from menus to magazines and books,
without the expense of commercial printing.
Prepress / “Pre-flight”
• Prepare the artwork submitted by the graphic designer for offset printing production.
• Check the material and use the shop’s printing software to format the pages
appropriately for the specified paper stock and ink types.
• Ensuring that the proper format, appearance, and layout of text and images is set
before the full print run for newspapers, magazines, brochures, catalogs, packaging
materials or labels is completed.
• Good eyesight and attention to detail for color and text proofing.
Imposition
• Positioning pages or artwork on press sheets in such a manner that the job can be
printed and finished properly and efficiently.
• Making sure that all the marks that are needed by the printing presses and finishing
machines are added includes cutting marks, color bars, bleed and collation marks.
