During my internship, I had the valuable opportunity to train under the guidance of highly skilled and renowned local media professionals at two distinguished media companies in Eastern Visayas, Philippines.
Experience: Less than 6 months
During my internship at a print media company in Eastern Visayas, Philippines, I had the opportunity to work with a team that primarily focused on producing newspapers. However, recognizing the importance of expanding their reach and engaging with a wider audience, particularly millennials and Gen Z, I shared a suggestion with my internship supervisor, who also served as the Assistant Editor. I proposed the idea of creating online news content that would effectively capture the attention of the audience, while maintaining the essence of journalism. In order to achieve this, I suggested adopting a "Marites" style, which entails incorporating viral topics into the news. One of the topics I chose to write about was fake news. I am pleased to report that the online news post gained significant traction and successfully attracted a large number of readers.
